Summary

These STAR Scholarships are funded by generous donations from alumni and a number of external organisations to provide opportunities for undergraduate students from disadvantaged backgrounds to study at the University of Strathclyde.

Eligibility

To be eligible for consideration for an award, candidates must be holding a conditional/unconditional offer of admission to an undergraduate degree course at the University of Strathclyde and:

  • be entering the University for the first time from a Scottish secondary school with a low number of pupils moving to HE, (view the list of eligible schools); or
  • be a secondary school/college leaver, and reside in a postcode which falls within the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD) Quintile 1 i.e. the bottom 20% most deprived (Note: applicants who fall under this category will be contacted directly); or
  • have been in receipt of EMA in the past three years ; or
  • have been in receipt of free school meals in the past three years.

The Head Teacher (or a designated member of school staff) is asked to provide a reference.

Care Experienced applicants will be contacted directly with information on our Strathclyde Cares support package.

Eligible applicants who also indicate that they are a carer/estranged will be prioritised.
