Summary

Scholarships of £7,000 per year of study are available to new international students joining an undergraduate degree in the Department of Physics in the 2026/27 academic year.

All new undergraduate international students who meet the eligibility criteria and register on an undergraduate degree in the Department of Physics will receive the scholarship. No separate scholarship application is necessary.

Eligibility

In order to receive an Undergraduate Scholarship for Physics International Students, candidates must:

  • Be a new, international fee-paying student who registers for either year one, or year two, of a full-time undergraduate degree in the Department of Physics, starting in September 2026.
  • Be self-funded. Students who receive full scholarships, for example from a government office or embassy, will not be eligible.

Terms and condition

  • Students must meet all of the above eligibility criteria to receive an Undergraduate Scholarship for Physics International Students. The scholarship will be awarded automatically, no separate scholarship application is necessary.
  • To receive their scholarship, awardees must enrol in the 2026/27 academic year and continue to meet all of the above eligibility criteria throughout their studies.
  • The value of the Undergraduate Scholarships for Physics International Students is £7,000. The scholarship will be awarded towards the payment of a student’s tuition fee annually, subject to academic progression. 
  • The scholarship are for new international fee-paying students only and cannot be deferred or transferred to any other entry points.
  • Students who transfer to a degree out with the Department of Physics will no longer be eligible to receive the scholarship.
  • Students are only eligible for one scholarship per academic year from the University of Strathclyde.
  • The Faculty of Science’s decision on the awarding of scholarships is final. Appeals will not be considered.

How to apply
