The Institute of Energy and Environment is one of Europe’s leading and largest power systems and energy technology university research groups. Our 200 staff and researchers engage in a diverse range of collaborative, multidisciplinary research programmes, addressing issues such as the creation of sustainable energy systems, to the development of condition monitoring technologies and asset investment planning. We have a strong international focus and have been leading rural energy access research and capacity building partnership projects in sub-Saharn Africa for over 15 years.

Academia - The ETP is an independent partnership of 14 Scottish universities, engaged in world-class energy research and innovation, and is the largest academic energy research partnership in Europe.
Communities - Local Energy Scotland manage the Scottish Government’s Community and Renewable Energy Scheme (CARES) which supports communities across Scotland to engage with, participate in and benefit from the energy transition to net zero emissions.
