The department is one of the UK’s major centres of research in accounting & finance. We cover all areas of accounting and finance, with particular expertise in:

The department has an international profile. Current staff and students come from countries as far afield as Australia, Tanzania, India and Bolivia. Our seminar and academic visitors programmes attract guest academics from universities all over the world.
Our department has retained it's ranking of 1st in the UK for Accounting & Finance in the Complete University Guide Subject League Table for 2017. The Guardian ranked Accounting & Finance for the first time in 2015 and placed us 3rd in the UK. Our position in these guides is consistently in the top 5 year-on-year.
The department was ranked 2nd in the UK for Accounting & Finance by the Times University Guide 2015 and the Sunday Times Guide.
In the Financial Times' Pre-experience Masters in Finance Programmes Survey 2016, our programmes have achieved 33rd place in the world rankings. This keeps us at number 1 in Scotland and 7th in the UK as a whole.
