MSc Quantum TechnologiesDevonte Davis

Devonte is currently pursuing an MSc in Quantum Technologies. He has a strong interest in the challenges involved in applying quantum physics to practical, real-world technologies.

How did you decide to study at Strathclyde?

I decided to study a postgraduate degree as a step towards studying a PhD in quantum physics. I decided to study at Strathclyde as this was the exact course I was looking for, and the University is local to me .

What do you like about your course and Strathclyde?

The thing I like most about the MSc Quantum Technologies is that it starts with the fundamentals of the subject and goes on to cover a wide range of topics, allowing for more exposure to the field of quantum physics. As part of the programme, I have developed knowledge of photonics and quantum computing, alongside skills such as data analysis.

What are your ambitions for the future, and how do you think your time at Strathclyde will help you achieve your goals?

I’m aiming to study for a PhD and go into a career in academia. I have found that Strathclyde has given me the opportunity to get hands-on experiences and exposure to active fields of research, which will help me to achieve these goals.

Have you managed to explore anywhere outside of Glasgow?

I’ve been to a few places and explored lots of areas as I bought a National Trust pass! My favourite places have been Arran & Inverness.

What would you say to anyone thinking of coming to study in Glasgow at Strathclyde?

Do it! Glasgow is a great place to live.
