BSc Computer ScienceRobbie Booth
I am a recent Computer Science graduate from the University of Strathclyde. Since graduating, I have been working as a Software Engineer for a global banking firm in Glasgow, while also developing mobile applications and websites in my free time.

How did you make the decision to study at Strathclyde?
I chose to study at the University of Strathclyde because of its strong reputation for excellence in Computer Science, both in national rankings and in student satisfaction. The University’s emphasis on innovation and practical learning particularly appealed to me. Additionally, my Computer Science teacher, who is a Strathclyde graduate, often spoke highly of his experience here.
What specialist knowledge/professional skills did you develop whilst studying the course?
Through my studies, I gained a deep understanding of designing and developing robust, industry-standard software. The course helped me strengthen my software development skills, which I have been able to apply effectively in both personal projects and professional settings.
What have you been up to since graduating from your course?
Since graduating, I have been actively developing my own personal projects, including mobile applications and websites. In addition, I work as a Full Stack Software Engineer for a major banking firm in Glasgow, where I contribute to cutting-edge artificial intelligence projects that have gained recognition across the organisation globally.
What are your ambitions for the future and how do you think your time at Strathclyde will help you achieve your goals?
Looking ahead, I aim to continue developing my own personal projects while progressing in my career within the software engineering field. My time at Strathclyde provided not only the technical foundation to excel professionally but also the opportunity to build lasting friendships and connections. These relationships have already opened doors to research and career opportunities, and I’m confident they will continue to support my
growth in the years to come.
What would you say to anyone thinking of coming to study at Strathclyde?
Strathclyde is an excellent place to study, with approachable and supportive lecturers who are always willing to help - even if it’s just for a friendly chat. The facilities, including the gym and library, are outstanding, and the student community is incredibly welcoming. Some of my closest friends today are people I met simply by sitting next to them in lectures.
Is there anything else you’d like to say?
Make the most of your time at Strathclyde - whether that means spending time with friends you meet through societies or lectures, or engaging with lecturers who are passionate experts in their fields and are always happy to chat about their subjects.
