How did you make the decision to study at Strathclyde?

I chose to study at Strathclyde due to its excellent reputation in pharmacy education. Additionally, the welcoming community and high standards of living in Glasgow were major factors, especially considering my two daughters who are also benefiting from the excellent educational opportunities.

What did you like about your course and Strathclyde?

I am impressed by the comprehensive curriculum of the MPharm programme at Strathclyde, which not only provides knowledge but also offers practical experience through placements and laboratory work. The support from faculty and staff has been exceptional, which is particularly meaningful to me as a mother of two daughters, ensuring a nurturing environment for my growth as a future pharmacist.

What specialist knowledge did you develop whilst studying the course?

During my time at Strathclyde, I have acquired advanced knowledge in pharmaceutical sciences, clinical pharmacy, and patient care. I have significantly improved my communication skills and critical thinking abilities, and I have gained practical experience in drug delivery systems. Additionally, I have learned about independent prescribing and decision-making in diagnosis and dispensing, which goes beyond medication review to include comprehensive patient care from admission to home. My thesis focused on the novel approach of 3D printed ibuprofen, where I gained valuable laboratory experience exploring its formulation and potential applications.

What are your ambitions for the future?

My goal is to make a substantial contribution to enhancing patient care, especially in community pharmacy settings where I can directly influence patient outcomes. The skills and knowledge I have acquired at Strathclyde, alongside the professional networks I have built here, have been instrumental in realising these aspirations.

Additionally, I have learnt about managing polypharmacy, creating comprehensive care plans, answering patient queries, and interpreting laboratory data, x-rays, and managing minor diseases, which are crucial aspects of providing holistic healthcare.

I am grateful for the enriching experiences and opportunities that studying at Strathclyde has provided me. The University's vibrant and supportive environment, highlighted by its active student union, has been instrumental in my personal and professional development. I look forward to applying the knowledge and skills gained here to make a positive impact in the field of pharmacy.
