The Strathclyde Institute of Medical Devices is staffed by academic and research specialists who understand the needs of the medical device industry, the NHS and other clinical organisations.
We offer research brokering, spin-in and spin-out information, support, and advice for clinicians and clinical staff with research needs. This includes advice on postgraduate study or research in Medical Devices, and information on our current pre-commercial project portfolio.
In addition the Institute retains close links with the medical technology industry in Scotland and the rest of the UK and actively encourages contact from SMEs as well as established medical companies.
"Effective innovation in medicine and healthcare technology is required to address the world's healthcare problems in the 21st Century. This can only be brought about by the convergence of engineering, science and medicine." -Professor P. Connolly Director of the Institute of Medical Devices
The institute's work covers the following broad areas to support the advancement of health and technology through research, teaching and commercialisation.
