The aim of this PhD is to create a novel tool/engineering support solution for predicting failure and the remaining useful life of wind turbine components in order to lower wind turbine maintenance costs. This tool utilises signal processing and artificial intelligence techniques in order to automatically extract features, train diagnostic and prognostic models and predict failures before they occur. The project focuses on component level and uses both high frequency vibration and low frequency performance data.
