Travel awards for postgraduate student
Two awards to support student’s travel to international conference
A second year postgraduate student in our research group has been awarded two bursaries to help fund her travel to the 19th International Conference on Glass (ICG), which will be held in Prague, Czech Republic in September 2017. Sairah Bashir has received both the RSC West of Scotland Local Section Travel Bursary and the SCI-RSC Rideal Travel Bursary, totalling £450.
Sairah is supervised by Dr Liu Yang and her research involves the development of chemical treatments to regenerate strength of thermally damaged glass fibres. She has submitted a journal paper on her work, and plans to present her recent findings at the ICG.
