Topic: Introduction of China's first floating offshore wind turbine prototype project - from concept design to full-scale demonstration
Speaker: Dr. Lin Lin
(Science and Technology Research Institute, China Three Gorges Corporation)
Dr. Lin Lin is a senior engineer at the Science and Technology Research Institute of China Three Gorges Corporation. Dr Lin joined NAOME at Strathclyde in 2012, working with Prof. Dracos Vassalos on wind turbine simulation. She received her PhD degree in 2016, then she worked as a research associate at MSRC. She joined Three Gorges in 2017 and she is currently leading the technology research and project development on offshore wind turbine, including China's first floating offshore wind turbine demonstration project. Over the past 4 years, Dr Lin and her research team have been intensively involved in the design of China’s first floating wind project. They proposed a completely new conceptual design, and eventually demonstrate it in a full scale. In July 2021, the turbine will start operation and generate electricity to the grid. In this L&L seminar, Dr Lin will give a review of the development of this floating wind project and share her experience on leading a research team.
