NAOME Careers Fair 2024: Bridging Talent with Opportunity
The Department of Naval Architecture, Ocean, and Marine Engineering (NAOME) at the University of Strathclyde proudly hosts an annual Careers Fair, an event designed to connect our world-class students with leading companies in the maritime industry. This event serves as a dynamic platform where students can explore a wide array of career opportunities, network with industry professionals, and secure internships or employment even before graduation. With increasing interest each year, the NAOME Careers Fair has become a key event for both students and industry partners, showcasing the exceptional quality of our graduates and the strong demand for their skills.
Award-winning student reveals youthful benefits of marine engineering
As maritime attention turns to the young with IMarEST’s Future Leaders Forum, we speak to Orla McEntee about the attraction of a life in marine engineering. “From a young age, I’ve always been interested in engines and things that move. You get Lego sets as a child and it is great fun to see things work after you’ve put them together. Then, when you grow up, it feels like you just get to work with bigger Lego sets!” Orla laughs. Orla’s interest and success in this area is a key example of what young engineers can bring to the marine sector. It is also a perfect example of what the maritime industry can offer in return: the chance to be involved in practical developments that will make the world a better place.
