ShipHullGAN: Revolutionising Ship Design with Generative AI!

Introducing ShipHullGAN: Revolutionising Ship Design with Generative AI!

Recently, Marie Sklodowska-Curie researcher Shahroz Khan has been working on Generative AI, the technology which is at the heart of models like ChatGPTs (which have taken the tech world by storm in the last few years), for ship generation. It is important to note that this is the first application of generative AI in ship design.

His work has gained significant attention from both industry and academia. We have received interest from the European Space Agency, who are considering utilizing our technology for satellite circuit and spacecraft design, as well as various AI-based startup companies.

We believe this is a significant development that showcases the use of "advanced AI technologies" to push the boundaries of conservative ship design approaches.

You can view the post Shahroz made on his Linkedin page here:  https://www.linkedin.com/posts/shahrozkhan2020_generativeai-generativedesign-generativeadversarialnetworks-activity-7050213495623045120-iZjU?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_ios.

We are also pleased to inform you that the graphical abstract of this paper has received first place in the Images of Research awards, in the category of Technology Transformer. This award was presented by the University of Strathclyde's Vice Chancellor, Sir Jim McDonald. Please refer to the attached snapshot from the awards ceremony (see the attached image and the announcement made by our collaborators on their webpage).

Additionally, for this work, Shahroz has been selected to participate in the OMAE 2023 Outreach for Engineers Forum. Out of 62 applicants, he is one of the 34 students chosen to participate, and he is among the 10 individuals selected to receive additional travel reimbursement.
