Hello again. For my January update this is my 'day in the life' blog, which I’m going to have to really dig deep in my cranium to make because I get told by my friends and family all the time that I suck at describing things in detail when it comes to what I’ve done and what’s going on in my life. However I’ll do my best to fill you in on what a normal school day is looking like for us just now.
We’ve got exams taking place each day at the moment, so me and my friends are preparing, doing last minute revision and creating our exam pieces. With the holidays just around the corner it would have been hard enough to focus, but it’s even harder due to the fact that we’re actually planning every step of our journey in the midst of our exam season. The only one who’s not excited is my rapidly depleting bank account. It is exam time so we don’t have classes each day just as I’m writing this but we still had a few this month.

The typical day starts at around 8:00am when my first alarm goes off, followed by my 8:10 and 8:23 alarms, when I finally get up a little bit before our first class at 8:30am. It's a struggle in the morning. I prioritise a few more minutes of sleep rather than breakfast or water before class so at this point I’m sitting in class still half asleep and very thirsty. Our first class ends at 10:30 where we can either step outside to go to the shop, sleep at our desks, or just go on our phones for about half an hour until the second lesson. We have multiple different class types and we have two different types each day with the most difficult class being our character lesson. Although the reading classes are the hardest it’s quite a lucky match up because the teacher we’ve had for these classes is very kind and nice, so much so she wrote us all cards for Christmas and for the holidays.

When class finally finishes at 12:00, although it is only 3 and a half hours of our total day, it feels like it rules our lives. We go for lunch, where we spend twice as much time talking as we do eating, complaining about how we had such little time to get ready in the morning, or how the 30 minute break never feels like it’s 30 minutes. The all-round favourite meal of my friend group is the katsu curry on the third floor of the canteen, which has a cult like following, and there have even been rumours of the mythical katsu with double chicken. None of my friends have had the courage to stand the embarrassment of asking for it. After this I usually go for coffee with whoever I can drag along with me, because the walk is lovely and almost makes you feel like you earned that katsu you just had.

The favourite coffee shop is “luckin coffee” which I went to just a few days ago when they had a demon slayer collaboration. I use this stimulant of chemicals, sweeteners and 2% coffee to will myself to finally look at writing more of my blog or doing some more preparation for my exams. I’m currently preparing my speaking piece which is taking agonisingly long but thankfully it’s coming to fruition and I can finally see the light at the end of this gloomy tunnel. After I do some work on my hardly working laptop and studying, me and my friends plan some more of our holidays. It is very boring when you don’t have parents doing it for you, and much more painful for the numbers, but we’re nearly there.
My group also started watching TV shows and anime series together in the evenings for a while before or after dinner. We all recently finished the series Re:Zero which was incredible and some of my friends are now reading the book. Anyway at this point we go for dinner and all look at each other with the same side eye as usual after asking “what are we thinking of eating tonight” as we all know we’re going back to the curry spot. After dinner I’ll do a little more studying and prep for exams, do some booking for the holidays, or go for a walk to sit outside the 7/11 with some of the group. We chill out for a little while before heading to back to the dorms and doing whatever small tidying or chores I need to do before bed.
