Study with us - undergraduate

Studying history – the story of humanity through the ages – develops your knowledge of the past and gives you a better understanding of the present.

Throughout your studies, you'll receive excellent training in areas such as problem-solving, communication, research methods and interpretation.

Our classes cover some of the most important and interesting historical periods at home and abroad, including Scotland’s ‘Highland Problem’ in the 16th century, Slavery in World History and Cold War Europe, 1945-1991.

Study with us - postgraduate

We currently have three postgraduate taught courses: Historical Studies (MSc), Health History (MSc) and Diplomacy and International Security (MSc).

The Historical Studies programme will introduce you to an advanced level study of history, while deepening your historical understanding and awareness.

The MSc in Health History explores the last two-and-a-half centuries to seek the origins and impacts of our modern health experiences and expectations, together with the reasons they've changed so rapidly.

The MSc in Diplomacy and International Security is a truly interdisciplinary experience, drawing upon academic expertise from History, the Department of Government and Public Policy and The Strathclyde Law School. This programme is distinctive as it offers students an historical understanding of contemporary issues and enables them to develop an in depth knowledge of diplomacy, theory and practice, and to examine key international security concerns as diverse as terrorism, cyber security and climate change.
