With our BA (Honours) degree you can choose from subjects in Humanities, Social Sciences and Business, with two of your three subject choices taught by the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences. See below for study options within the Department of Humanities.
Subject combinations
Single or Joint Honours
English, English and Creative Writing and History may be studied to Single or Joint Honours level.
Joint Honours only
French, Spanish and Journalism, Media and Communication are available only as Joint Honours Programmes.
Subjects in other Faculties
Economics, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Mathematics and Tourism can also be studied alongside a Humanities and Social Sciences subject.

Gain psychological and historical insight through analysing the work of writers, past and present.
English & Creative Writing
Gain a critical understanding of contemporary and historical literature while developing your own creative work.
History
Study the people, societies and events of the past and gain greater perspective on contemporary issues.
Journalism, Media & Communication
Study the theory and practice of journalism, undertake media placements and work in a simulated news environment.
Languages
Work towards fluency in French or Spanish and benefit from language immersion with a year abroad.
