Professor Jill  A Howieson, Law School Director, Director of Mediation Clinic, University of Western Australia (UWA)

Professor Jill Howieson is an internationally recognised academic, researcher, and practitioner in mediation and dispute resolution. She established the UWA Mediation Clinic in 2018, now a pioneering hub for clinical research, accredited training, and interdisciplinary practice in Australia. With a PhD in Law and Psychology, Professor Howieson's work spans research, teaching, translation to practice, and extensive community engagement. She has delivered over 50 invited presentations at local, national, and international conferences, led major research projects on family violence and mediation, and collaborated with courts, government, and leading international experts. Her current focus is on advancing evidence-based models for understanding and addressing coercive control in families, supporting vulnerable populations through innovative and therapeutic mediation approaches.
