Mediation Clinic Shortlisted for Legal Awards

Strathclyde Mediation Clinic has been shortlisted as a finalist in two categories of the Scottish Legal Awards 2019 - Community Contribution Award and Public Sector In-House Legal Team of the Year.  This is a great achievement for the team of volunteer mediators and underlines the significance of the Clinic's work within the justice system.  In 2018 the Clinic doubled its caseload, providing over 80 mediations for 6 sheriff courts and helping resolve disputes over goods and services, vehicles, unpaid bills, rented property and many more.

The Mediation Clinic enables students on the LLM/MSc in Mediation & Conflict Resolution to provide a service to the community while enhancing their skills and employability, underlining the university's commitment to be the place of useful learning.  Dr Mary Neal, Acting Head of the Law School, said

The Law School is extremely proud of the expertise in the Clinic, and the invaluable service it provides to the community.

Prof Douglas Brodie, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Science, added "We're delighted that the important work done by the Clinic is being recognised in its shortlisting for two such prestigious awards."

The awards final takes place on March 21st.
