Strathclyde Team in Delhi International Negotiation Competition

Two members of Strathclyde Mediation Society, Rhianne Carroll and Steven McLaughlin, have headed to National Law University, Delhi to compete in its International Negotiation Competition.  Sponsored by Herbert Smith Freehills, the invitation-only competition is the first of its kind in India.  Now in its 5th year it attracts students from across India as well as Asia, Africa, Australia and, now, Scotland.  This year some 30 teams are competing for a cash prize of £1,000.

Teams negotiate against one another using real-world commercial scenarios.  Rhianne and Steven have already submitted their negotiation plans and will be judged on their performance across two rounds followed by a semi-final and final.  One of Strathclyde's Mediation and Conflict Resolution alumni, Nanda Kumar, will act as mentor and coach during their time in Delhi.  Nanda is now an advocate in India's Supreme Court.
