Theories of Domination and Labour Law: A New Conception for Legal Intervention?

The workshop Theories of Domination and Labour Law: A New Conception for Legal Intervention?, organised by Dr Rebecca Zahn and David Cabrelli of Edinburgh University’s Law School, took place at the University of Strathclyde on 21 October 2016. This one-day workshop brought together leading scholars in the field from a wide range of Universities and different academic disciplines including law, political theory and philosophy to reconsider the purpose of labour laws in regulating the employment relationship, and the relevance of civic republican theories of domination to that end. An overview of the programme can be found here: https://www.strath.ac.uk/humanities/lawschool/newsevents/theoriesofdominationandlabourlawanewconceptionforlegalintervention/

The workshop was very well received and was well-attended by established academics and PhD students from a wide range of institutions. A selection of the papers will be published as part of a special issue of the International Journal of Comparative Labour Law and Industrial Relations in Autumn 2017.
