Law, crime & justice
The Centre for Law, Crime & Justice brings together expertise in the study of law, crime, criminal justice and the overlapping research.
We provide distinctive postgraduate programmes such as the UK’s first graduate level course in Criminal Justice & Penal Change (LLM /MSc /Pg Dip/ Cert).
The Centre for the Study of Human Rights Law (CSHRL) is a focal point for research and teaching in human rights law.
Our research goes beyond academia in a range of human rights areas. We facilitate student engagement with human rights research, in particular through our LLM in Human Rights Law.
We hold regular conferences and seminars that brings together the academic community, legal profession, public and non-governmental sector in Scotland, in the UK and internationally.

Internet law & policy
Staff publish widely and edit leading text book Law and the Internet Within the Centre for Internet Law & Policy, we’ve an international reputation for telecoms law, e-commerce, online privacy and internet governance.
We also have special interest in human rights online and digital rights civil society.
As well as our renowned LLM in Internet Law & Policy, we also welcome applications for PhD students to join our growing research community.
Our staff publish and lecture widely, including editing the leading textbook Law and the Internet and have been consulted by many leading international organisations including the European Parliament, Google and McAfee.
The aim of the Strathclyde Centre for Environmental Law & Governance is to raise and influence policy and relevant research in International, European and national (both Scottish and English) environmental law.
We are also a hub for excellence in postgraduate and PhD teaching, including LLM/PgDip/PgCert Climate Change Law & Policy.
We host a visiting researcher programme, including high profile guest lectures, seminars and conferences. We welcome consultancy collaborations with public and private policy makers and stakeholders.
