Deploying ICT to Model the Public Interest Test in the Competition Law Domain

Professor Rodger and Dr Wang (as co-investigators) have submitted an EPSRC grant application, entitled ‘Deploying ICT to Model the Public Interest Test in the Competition Law Domain’, with Bangor University (Institute for Competition and Procurement Studies), Warwick University, and the University of Huddersfield in July 2019, supported by Peking University, Fudan University, Nankai University, and Yunnan University, as well as the law firms:- Shepherd & Wedderburn and Zhong Yin. This project shall use information science modelling techniques to provide both UK and its major trading partner China with a new public interest test tool (where none currently exists) to deal with an age-old problem: how to use competition law to maintain market competition, while genuinely protecting consumers.
