PgCert Children & Young People in Conflict with the LawSarah Milvenan

Tell us a little bit about your background...

I did my LLB at Strathclyde then completed my diploma in Professional Legal Practice in 2006 at Strathclyde. I practiced as a solicitor until 2013 when I went to work with SCRA.

What drew you towards undertaking this degree?

I wanted to do the certificate in Children in Conflict with the Law to better equip myself with the knowledge in order to provide a better service to children, young people and their families.

Tell us about the format of the programme. What is a typical week like?

We had a webinar once per week each Thursday, so it was fully online.

What is the academic support at Strathclyde like?

It was really good. The tutors were always willing to assist if you emailed them and provided good feedback in the tutorials.

What are your ambitions for the future?

I hoped the certificate would open more career doors for me which it has done. I am currently seconded to the police.
