Technical Staff Development Programme

The University is formally recognised as a University Employer Champion in Scotland, by the Science Council for the development opportunities available to support our technical staff.

As part of our ongoing commitment to this support, OSDU have developed a formal modular programme to support technical staff.

The Technical Staff Development Programme takes the form of a two level programme:

Level 1 is appropriate for junior members of Technical Staff, providing a wide variety of development sessions aimed at providing complementary development supporting technical development provided by departments.

Level 2 – Technical Leaders programme is appropriate for Technical Staff who are interested in becoming supervisory leaders within their departments.  This level of the programme is fully mapped to the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) level 3 qualification.

If you are a member of Strathclyde staff and would like more information on these programmes and other development opportunities available to you vist the OSDU hub:

Technician's Commitment

The Technician Commitment is a university and research institution initiative, led by a steering group of sector bodies, with support from the Science Council and the Gatsby Charitable Foundation’s Technicians Make It Happen campaign. The Commitment aims to ensure visibility, recognition, career development and sustainability for technicians working in higher education and research, across all disciplines. Universities and research institutes are invited to become signatories of the Technician Commitment and pledge action against the key challenges affecting their technical staff.
