Positive About Disabled People

As part of our commitment to equality and diversity, the University is accredited as a "Disability Confident" employer and operates a guaranteed interview scheme for disabled candidates who meet all the essential criteria for the post that they are applying for.  (Please note that "Disability Confident" replaced the Positive about Disabled People ("Two Ticks") scheme during 2016.)

The Equality Act 2010 defines a disability as a physical or mental impairment that has a substantial and long-term adverse effect on a person's ability to undertake normal day-to-day duties.

On the appropriate section of the application form you should indicate if you consider yourself to have a disability and wish to be considered under the scheme.  You should be aware that if you indicated that you have a disability then you may be asked to provide information on this at interview as the University needs this information to consider the likely impact of your disability on the duties of the post you are applying for and whether any reasonable adjustments can be made.  This allows the University to comply with the Equality Act 2010.
