Winter vacation (Christmas and New Year) opening hours

The Library building is closed for several days during the Christmas and New Year period. 

The Information Services Enquiries Desk will be open from 12:00 until 17:00 on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 December. It will be closed from Monday 22 December to Sunday 4 January inclusive.

Welcome/consolidation week

Semester 2 consolidation week runs from Monday 12 to Sunday 18 January 2026 (inclusive).

Archives & Special Collections Reading Room

The Archives & Special Collections Reading Room is open by appointment only. Email archives@strath.ac.uk to make an appointment.

 

Closing bells

If you are studying towards the end of the day, you may hear our closing bells. We ring the closing bells:

  • twice approximately 30 minutes before closing
  • twice approximately 20 minutes before closing
  • three times ten minutes before closing

If the Library is very busy, we may ring the bells again before closing. Please make sure you begin to pack up your things and make your way out of the Library at least ten minutes before we are due to close. This helps our staff make sure the building is securely closed on time.
