University electric vehicles outside TIC

We launched the electric vehicles at Strathclyde in November 2018, with two University branded cars parked on Richmond Street and available to book for those who have completed the driver induction course.

For anyone who would like to sign up to the University EV car club check out the Driver Induction Course booking page and sign up to a session if one is available or add your name to the waiting list.  We will hold sessions on a demand basis, but you can also get in touch with us directly if a group of people would like to sign up.

See the  for more information, and contact Sustainable Strathclyde if you have any further questions.

University has a fleet of 5 electric vehicles, of two different types and parked at following locations:

Cars are University owned and bookable via the Co-wheels car sharing online platform and app, using a free of charge University account which individuals sign up to after attending the Driver Induction course. There is no cost to Departments for using the vehicles.

Information about DVLA licence checks

For non-UK licence holders, including Northern Ireland, Co-wheels have advised the following:

"For a foreign licence check, this will need to be sent into our head office along with a proof of UK address that is dated within the last 3 months.  The licence can be certified at the post office by asking for a certified licence check.  This would be accepted for the licence check and must be sent to Co-wheels by post.  Proof of address can be sent via email.  Once all of the above has been received we can then send out the welcome pack with smart card."
