Quickgrind

Background

Forward thinking cutting tool manufacturer, Quickgrind, joined the University of Strathclyde’s Advanced Forming Research as a Tier Two Member in January 2018.

The expanding UK based firm has embarked on an ambitious growth strategy and launched its new Technical Centre of ‘Infinite Possibilities’ at its Tewkesbury headquarters in summer 2019.

Challenge

As part of its growth strategy, the team at Quickgrind was keen to broaden its networks, allowing it to tap into previously unexplored high value markets.

Fostering new relationships with larger firms across different industries is typically challenging for small and medium sized businesses. With the right support, however, these new relationships can develop and grow, bringing significant benefits to both parties.

How did the AFRC help?

Tier Two Membership at the AFRC provides a number of benefits, specifically tailored for the companies that we work with.

It provides access to our unique set of technical capabilities, allowing firms to take advantage of the facilities and expertise within the centre and work with like-minded people and businesses.

We regularly run and support industry focused events, member events along with providing various other networking opportunities and introductions.

Business impact

Quickgrind secured four new contracts within just 16 months of joining the AFRC.

It has benefited from access to our prestigious engineering and industrial networks, allowing it to develop new relationships with key people in key companies across a range of its target markets.
