Road works

There are currently no roadworks near the AFRC.  For further travel updates, please check the Traffic Scotland website or Traffic Scotland Twitter feed before embarking on your journey.

Train

The closest train station to the AFRC is Paisley Gilmour Street.  There’s two main national railway stations in the centre of Glasgow – Glasgow Central and Queen Street.  You can find information on train times the National Rail website. The cost of travelling by train can be reduced by booking in advance.

Bus

There is a bus stop outside the Rolls-Royce building.

Operating Monday - Saturday, the recently re-branded McGill’s X23 runs every 30 minutes, getting you to Glasgow via the M8 as quickly as possible.   Starting from as early as 6.15am, McGill's X23 takes the fast route to Glasgow, picking up at Erskine, Inchinnan, Renfrew and Intu Braehead, to various stops in Glasgow city centre.

Staff electric vehicles

If you're travelling to the AFRC from the City Centre John Anderson campus, why not try our electric vehicles? The University has two electric pool cars that are free to use for all staff. Find out how to access the cars here.  There is a vehicle charging point at the AFRC so you can even charge the car while you're here.

Car travel

For detailed directions and a map on how to reach the AFRC from the University of Strathclyde, click here.  Parking is free at the AFRC and you can park at the right and left hand side of the building.  **Update - due to extension work, there are currently some restrictions on parking at the AFRC.  Please follow signange on arrival.**

Taxi

Paisley Taxis cost around 7 pounds from Glasgow Airport to the AFRC building.  They can be contacted on 0141 887 5050.

Air travel

Fly into Glasgow International Airport with a wide range of airlines, including British Airways and Easyjet. This is the closest airport to the AFRC.  Ryanair operates flights from Prestwick International Airport, which is around 30 miles from the city centre. Many airlines also fly into Edinburgh Airport.
