OverviewEPSRC Impact Acceleration Account (IAA)

The University of Strathclyde’s Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) Impact Acceleration Account (IAA) will accelerate the impact from Strathclyde’s engineering and physical sciences research, with the aim of improving society and the economy.

The Strathclyde IAA aims to make a permanent improvement in delivering impact from our research by engaging businesses and organisations in the development of that research, with the aim of addressing the challenges we face globally.

Engagements with businesses and organisations include: secondment of personnel from an external organisation into the University; secondment of University personnel into an external organisation; early stage commercialisation activities; and feasibility studies. These engagements might result in improved products/practices/processes/policies for organisations.

Impact from research can be defined as: “an effect on, change or benefit to the economy, society, culture, public policy or services, health, the environment, or quality of life; beyond academia” Research Excellence Framework (2011).

The EPSRC has awarded £1.76 million to the University of Strathclyde to fund IAA activities from April 2022 until March 2025. To date, the EPSRC has awarded £6.96 million to the University of Strathclyde to fund IAA activities.
