VII Strathclyde Postgraduate Colloquium on Environmental Law and Governance

Wednesday 01 & Thursday 02 May 2019

This Colloquium provides an opportunity for Post Docs, Ph.D., MPhil and LLM students engaged in research in any area of environmental law and governance to present and discuss their work, or a part of it, in a supportive environment. It also provides an opportunity for environmental research students in general (who may not be presenting) to meet and network with other peers and experts working in this area of law.

The 2019 Colloquium will follow the successful format of the previous six editions, when researchers from a wide range of countries presented their research and leading environmental law academics, SCELG members and practitioners were invited to discuss the presentations, providing presenters with insightful comments and constructive feedback.

The Colloquium offers two types of presentations:

1. Oral Presentations. Accepted presentations will be divided into thematic sessions that will be chaired by a SCELG and feature invited experts who will act as discussants. Each presentation will last 15 minutes followed by ample time for debate introduced by the discussant.

2. Poster Presentation. Accepted posters will be displayed at the Colloquium’s venue and time will be specifically allocated for authors to introduce and discuss their work with participants. Posters should be A1 size.

Those interested in presenting should submit a 300-word abstract that provides a clear and concise overview of the intended presentation to scelg@strath.ac.uk. We welcome abstracts in any field of environmental law and governance that touch upon one or more of the 12 areas of expertise of the SCELG (detailed on our website). Abstracts should indicate which area(s) of environmental law and governance the presentation will focus on. You may also indicate your preferred form of presentation (oral presentation or poster) in your abstract. However, upon the acceptance of your abstract, you may be asked by the Colloquium organisers to present your work in an alternative format in consideration of the slots available for each category of presentation.

The deadline for abstract submission is 1 February 2019. Successful applicants will be informed by 15 February 2019.

Registration: To register please send an e-mail to scelg@strath.ac.uk.

Date and Time: Wednesday 1 - Thursday 2 May 2019.
