Dr Senia Febrica organises webinar series on researchers’ contribution to the UN negotiations on Biological Diversity of Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction
Dec 2020 — On 23-25 November, Dr Senia Febrica organised for the One Ocean Hub a webinar series on the intergovernmental conference on an international legally binding instrument under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biological Diversity of Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ treaty). She highlighted the complexities of issues cover during the negotiations and how researchers can best contribute to this international process, and benefitted from explanations on the purpose and status of the negotiations from the UN Division on Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea (UNDOALOS), and insights from members of the UN-Nippon Fellows and Alumni network, as well as external experts.
