Strathclyde-GSKSTEM for Britain Gold Award
We are pleased to announce success at the 2022 STEM for Britain Competition, held at the Houses of Parliament. Katherine MacFarlane won Gold in the Chemistry Section and she received the Roscoe Medal for her poster: Exploiting DNA-encoded library technology for the discovery of novel antibody recruiting molecules against LOX-1.
STEM for Britain is a major scientific poster competition and exhibition which has been held in Parliament since 1997, and is organised by the Parliamentary & Scientific Committee. Chaired by Stephen Metcalfe MP, its aim is to give members of both Houses of Parliament an insight into the outstanding research work being undertaken in UK universities by early-career researchers. Prizes are awarded for the posters presented in each discipline which best communicated high level science, engineering or mathematics to a lay audience.
Extended congratulations and thanks to Katherine's academic and industrial supervisors, Drs Craig Jamieson and Tom Clohessy/Matt Sender, respectively.
We also say well done to collaborative students Holly Bonfield, Kate Gilbert and Arron Aatkar for also presenting posters at this prestigious event. Our GSK/Strathclyde students made up 20% of the selected participants!
