Strathclyde-GSKSCI Scholarship Win

Emma Grant, from Cohort 6 of our collaborative PhD programme, is one of 3 recipients of a 2018 Society of Chemistry Industry (SCI) Scholarship. This scholarship is to the value of £5K, over two years.

SCI Scholarships are prestigious and well respected by the industry. The SCI Scholars Fund was established in 1920 by the requests of Rudolph Messel and John Gray, both former presidents and founding members of the SCI.

Emma says:

"I’m nearing the completion of the first year of my PhD and have become completely immersed in the field of chemical biology. I am focused on the development of small molecule probes to investigate proteins, and I hope that the research I am conducting will ultimately lead to the development of novel platforms to aid the drug discovery process. The SCI Scholarship will be an invaluable resource to me as I pursue my PhD as it will provide support for my research and future career prospects."

Huge congratulations to Emma and many thanks also to Emma's academic and industrial supervisors, Professor Nick Tomkinson (Strathclyde) and Dr Jake Bush (GSK).
