Strathclyde Medal for Student Support

August 2024
Administrative Assistant Melanie Taylor from the Department of Physics has been awarded a Strathclyde Medal for her work in Student Support.
The Strathclyde Medals are awards given by the University of Strathclyde to recognise individuals or teams who exemplify the University's core Values in their work, relationships, and achievements. These medals celebrate those who consistently demonstrate values such as respect, integrity, excellence, and collaboration.
Melanie’s continued efforts to make a significant contribution to colleagues and students comes the same month as her student-led nomination for a Teaching Excellence Award for Best Non-Teaching/Support Staff.
At the same award ceremony, a Faculty of Science team including Physics staff Prof Paul Griffin, Dr Helen Vaughan and Dr Cristian Ciocarlan received a team medal for their work on the Breaking Barriers outreach programme. Breaking Barriers is a partnership with Enable Scotland to help young people with learning difficulties enter the workplace.
