Mrs Sarah Alvi

Personal statement

Sarah joined the Stephen Young Institute in 2022 as Institute Manager. She has over nine years' experience of providing financial and management support in the Higher Education Sector. After gaining her accountancy degree from the University of Glasgow in 1999, Sarah went onto gaining professional accountancy training from various reputable accountancy firms such as KPMG and became a fully qualified ACCA accountant in 2008. Sarah has worked in many HE/FE institutions including City of Glasgow College, University of Glasgow and Glasgow School of Art and has extensive experience in the financial management of various initiatives and projects, both large and small, as well as building and maintaining relationships with various stakeholders. Sarah also has a cross cutting interest in equality, diversity and inclusion and how this can be improved at the University. She is also very committed to sustainability and would like to build an institute that has sustainability at the forefront of its activities.
