Personal statement

Jane has over 30 years of experience of teaching in Secondary and Primary schools. She also worked as Care Manager for a children's charity supporting children experiencing disability and their families. Jane has a degree in Fine Art from Glasgow School of Art. Her passion for the arts are very present in her work on Inclusive Education. 

Jane current teaching leadership involves

Module Lead: BA Childhood Practice Pahse 2 Deficit to Strengths-based Working in Multiprofessional Teams

Module Co-Lead: BA Joint Honours Year 1 (Education) 'Placement Learning: Children's Health and Well-Being In the Community'

Module Co-Lead: BA Joint Honours Year 2 (Education-Interdisciplinary Learning) 'Globally Connected Communities: An Arts-Based Approach to celebrating inclusion, culture, language and identity through multimodal literacy practicies'

Module Co-Lead: BA Primary Education Year 4 Inclusion through the Lens of Additional Support Needs

Jane has extensive experience in delivering CLPL across the education sector on Inclusion and Additional Support Needs as well as creativity and the visual arts. These sessions adopt a partcipatory approach and take a strengths-based veiw of children, families, communities, and our own capicities to better understand our own practices and conetxts.

She is a co-investigator for the AHRC research funder project Sustainable Designs For Learning and Living: Embedding Multilingualism in Learning for Sustainability. As part of this work she has completed 'Introduction to Permaculture' with Permaculture Scotland.

This session is for all educators who wish to deepen and extend
their thinking around working with and for an increasingly diverse learning
community. We will explore concepts from key scholars in the field of
inclusive education to unpack what ‘inclusion’ and ‘additional support
needs’ should mean for practice. We offer an opportunity to develop
strengths-based perspectives and identify positive actions we can all take on
these pressing issues for our current times.
