Personal statement

Dr Katharina (Kathi) Edkins is Professor at the Strathclyde Institute for Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences. She joined the University of Strathclyde in 2023 after having been Reader in the School of Health Sciences at the University of Manchester, Senior Lecturer in the School of Pharmacy at Queen's University Belfast, and Lecturer in the Division of Pharmacy at Durham University.

Dr Edkins' research focus is on supramolecular interactions in pharmaceutical materials ranging from pre-crystallisation disordered materials to novel drug delivery platforms based on supramolecular gels. Her group specialises in neutron scattering techniques, such as diffraction, quasi-elastic neutron scattering and neutron total scattering. In addition, she uses nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, FT infrared spectroscopy, fluorescence correlation spectroscopy and other fluorescence microscopic methods to investigate molecular interaction and dynamics.
