Projects
- Community Research Cafes - Centre for Health Policy
- Garnham, Lisa (Principal Investigator)
- As part of our commitment to participatory research, the cafes provide an informal space for third sector and community-led organisations to access research support. This will be a space where you can ask experienced researchers questions about research, evaluation and impact monitoring, over a cup of tea. If you think you’d like some research support beyond the cafés, we can also explore options for this with you too.
We were inspired to create this support network following the Influencing Policy with Participatory workshop with third sector organisations in Glasgow in March 2025, where we discussed the benefits and challenges of engaging in participatory research for policy audiences.
The cafes are funded by a Social Policy Association Opportunity Grant, awarded to Lisa Garnham. - 01-Jan-2026 - 30-Jan-2027
- Mapping the impacts of the 'Big Noise' social intervention on health and wellbeing
- Garnham, Lisa (Principal Investigator)
- This project uses participatory systems mapping to gather qualitative evidence on the impacts of the 'Big Noise' social intervention. The 'Big Noise' is an orchestral music programme that is currently operating in six neighbourhoods across Scotland. The programme works with local schools to offer an immersive programme for children of all ages, as well as adults in the community.
This project will carry out participatory systems mapping with programme staff, young people participating in the programme and their families. It will create a 'Layered Systems Map' of programme impacts. This map will allow viewers to interactively explore the impacts of the intervention, intercluding the evidence gathered through this project and previous evaluations. - 01-Jan-2025 - 30-Jan-2026
