Personal statement

Eva completed her Masters and PhD at the University of Vienna comparing non-pathogenic to pathogenic Chlamydiae. She performed postdoctoral research at Newcastle University (UK), Monash University (Australia) and the Wellcome Sanger Institute (UK) before starting her lab at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine in 2019. Eva’s research includes genome evolution of bacterial pathogens in particular in the context of antimicrobial resistance; membrane protein family evolution and vaccine design; and symbioses, in particular mosquito-microbiome interactions. In June 2024 Eva joined the Strathclyde Institute of Biomedical Sciences on a Senior Lecturer position.
