Personal statement

Professor Clare Hoskins (Chair in Nanomedicine) has been working on cancer nanomedicine for the past 20 years. Her work on nanomedicine applied to cancer medicine has been recognised on a national and international scale. She is highly active within her professional bodies. Professor Hoskins is a Fellow of the RSC. She is an elected Council Member of the RSC Materials Chemistry Council, a committee member (and past Chair) of the RSC Chemical Nanosciences and Nanotechnology Network, she also the Secretary of the UK and Ireland Controlled Release Society. Professor Hoskins has been awarded various prizes (including the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences Emerging Researcher award) and medals for her research and leadership. She is currently an Associate Editor of RSC Pharmaceutics and British Journal of Cancer Reports. She leads a vibrant interdisciplinary research group working on the development of a range of multifunctional nanoparticles and their translation into medical therapies both in therapeutics and theranostics. Professor Hoskins has been involved in various different consortium projects or initiatives including EPSRC IRC in Hard-to-Treat Cancer, CRUK funded PaNanoMRI, EU Cost Action Next-MPI and the EPSRC CDT in cyber-physical systems for medicine development and manufacturing.
