Personal statement

Chirsty McFadyen is a Knowledge Exchange Associate at the Fraser of Allander Institute. Chirsty's work at the Institute is focused on employment and inequalities.

Chirsty is in the writing-up stage of her PhD which researches the labour market transitions of low paid workers. Her thesis focuses on in-work poverty and progression opportunities and barriers for low paid workers.

Chirsty has previously worked on several projects including data mapping for the poverty-related attainment gap in rural Scotland and a collaborative project related to data on care-experienced people with The Promise Scotland. She is currently working on two projects: Serving the Future, which focuses on reducing and preventing in-work poverty in the hospitality sector in Scotland; and a project on learning disabilities employment in Scotland.
