Personal statement

I joined the University of Strathclyde as a member of staff in 2018, following my graduation from the University, where I completed a Masters in Sports Engineering and Product Design from the Department of Design Manufacture and Engineering Management. I have been primarily working as a Knowledge Exchange Assistant and in this role, I have worked for various manufacturing companies, including Click Netherfield and latterly Spirit AeroSystems, to provide a diverse range of manufacturing solutions. In my role as Project Engineering Consultant with ClickNetherfield, I independently worked on a project to reengineer ClickNetherfield’s processes and to create a modularisation decision making tool that would produce an increasingly modular product family for their product portfolio. The project focused on areas of product customisation, modularisation and management areas of the business. During my time at Spirit I visited suppliers nationally to assess the suitability of technology for inclusion in the automated production facility, interacted with the customer, as well as local tool suppliers and partners, to drive efficiency and excellence in the project. Working within the multidisciplinary A320 spoiler’s team in Prestwick I have had exposure to new product introduction in the aerospace industry and gained a greater understanding of the vital role of team collaboration in volume manufacturing. I also led work packages, from initial scope and budget definition, to final task delivery in line with the agreed schedule. In July of 2020, I joined the National Manufacturing Institute of Scotland in my new role as Technologist and E-Learning Platform Specialist within the Manufacturing Skills Academy. Our team will be supporting the AMCF project which aims to deliver Online Digital Manufacturing and Leadership CPD. I am responsible for developing and enhancing the e-platform and I provide continuing support from an online educational perspective.
