Personal statement

Dr Livia Pancotto is a Senior Lecturer in Banking in the Department of Accounting and Finance at the University of Strathclyde and Deputy Director of the Responsible Business Institute (ReBI). She is also an Academic Fellow of the Centre for Responsible Banking & Finance (CRBF) at the University of St Andrews and serves as Associate Editor of The European Journal of Finance.

She holds a PhD and MSc in Banking and Finance from Bangor University and previously completed undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at Sapienza University of Rome.

Her research focuses on empirical banking, financial regulation and financial stability, with particular attention to how regulatory and institutional reforms shape bank behaviour and market outcomes. 

Her work is published in leading international peer-reviewed journals and maintains close engagement with policy institutions, including the Bank for International Settlements, where she currently serves as a Visiting Economist, and the European Central Bank.

She currently chairs the Research Committee of the International Accounting & Finance Doctoral Symposium (IAFDS).
