Dr Michael Ward

Technical Director

Advanced Forming Research Centre

As Technical Director Dr Michael Ward’s role at the AFRC is to lead and develop the Technology Strategy and to enable the future growth of the centre through winning new business.  Michael also chairs the AFRC Technical Board, represents the centre at the High Value Manufacturing Catapult Chief Technical Officers’ forum, the Scottish Aerospace, Defence, Marine and Security (ADMS) Industry Leadership Group, and is a board member of ALFED. Michael previously worked in Rolls-Royce, where as corporate Chief of Capability Acquisition, he was responsible for the definition and leadership of Capability Acquisition across aerospace, marine, energy, and nuclear sectors.  He has significant experience in manufacturing process modelling, having led the Rolls-Royce Process Modelling Group for five years.
