Strathclyde SportGravity Reformer Pilates at Strathclyde Sport

Strathclyde Sport is bringing Gravity Reformer Pilates to campus!

Reformer Pilates has become hugely popular in recent years, with classes often selling out weeks in advance. It provides a low-impact, full-body workout that can help improve strength and flexibility, as well as balance and core stability.

Classes will take place in our Cycle Studio, with eight reformer beds available. Classes will fully commence on 28 September. Before then, we're offering a series of taster sessions, giving you the opportunity to experience Reformer Pilates for yourself.

7-27 September: Half price taster session. £7.50 for members and £10 for non members
28 September onwards: Full 45 minute classes charged at £15 for members and £20 for non members

With just eight places available in each class, spaces are limited and advance booking is recommended.

Explore the timetable below to find a session and book your place through the Strathclyde Sport app. Classes are bookable 7 days in advance.

The first Reformer sessions will be available to book via the app from 31st August.

FAQ's

Gravity Reformer Pilates is a style of reformer Pilates performed on a Gravity Reformer machine, which uses an angled sliding platform and your own body weight as resistance, rather than relying primarily on traditional spring resistance. This allows the difficulty to be adjusted by changing the incline of the machine.

Traditional reformer Pilates uses spring resistance to control and challenge movement, and Gravity Reformer Pilates combines adjustable resistance with the natural effect of gravity and body weight. This creates a workout that can be tailored to a wide range of fitness levels. The overall goals remain the same, but the Gravity Reformer offers a slightly different training experience that many people find intuitive and adaptable.

From 7-27 September, Reformer is offering half price taster sessions; £7.50 for members and £10 for non members. From 28th September, price is £15 for members and £20 for non members.

No, they are an additional charge of £15 for members and £20 for non members.

You can book via our app or online. Reformer classes will be available to book 7 days before the scheduled time.

Due to popularity, it is strongly advised that you book in advance for the class.

Classes are all beginner friendly suitable for all levels.

You must bring a pair of grip socks. These socks will also be available to purchase at reception. Comfortable clothing and a water bottle are also recommended. The room is a little bit cool initially, so you may want to wear leggings and long sleeves.

Full refunds are available for cancellations made 24 hours or more before the class start time. No refunds will be given for cancellations made within 24 hours of the class.

Yes. Taster sessions will run for 45 minutes, the same as our regular classes. As these sessions are designed to introduce you to the equipment and key techniques, more time will be spent on guidance and instruction, meaning the workout portion may be slightly shorter than in a standard class.
