SECA

Strathclyde Sport is delighted to introduce a body composition analysis scanner, SECA, located on level 3.

The SECA TRU Ultra is designed to provide a more comprehensive picture than simply looking at body weight or BMI.

Get a clearer picture of your current body composition and establish a baseline for your fitness journey.

SECA onboarding appointments are available with our Health & Fitness Coaches where you will be taken through your scan and have your results explained. Self-scanning is also an option.

Sometimes we can maintain a similar body weight while changing our muscle and fat composition. The SECA assessment provides you with additional information detailed below.

  • Body weight
  • Body fat
  • Skeletal muscle mass
  • Fat-free mass
  • Total body water
  • Visceral fat
  • Segmental body composition
  • Waist circumference
  • Height and BMI

Your initial SECA onboarding appointment gives you a starting measurement that can be repeated later. You will be able to scan once every 30 days in order to get meaningful results.

Trend analysis is one of the key features of the SECA system and can help you make changes in your body composition easier to understand.

To get started, book your onboarding appointment here. All appointments and self scans are free until January 2027.

If you wish a personalised programme following on from your scan, please book in for Personal Training.

Please note the following:

  1. The ethnicity categories presented by the SECA Body Analytics scanner are determined by the manufacturer and are used solely to apply body composition calculation models that have been validated against specific reference datasets.
  2. These categories do not reflect the University's equality monitoring categories or definitions of ethnicity.

Users should select the category that they feel best aligns with the reference population available within the system. If none of the listed categories accurately reflects their ethnic background, they may select "Other / I'm Not Sure". Choosing this option will not affect access to the service.
