The mission of the Age-Friendly Academy (AFA) is to consolidate and showcase the breadth of innovative work which is ongoing here at the University of Strathclyde related to positive ageing and demographic change.
As part of the global network of Age-Friendly Universities we are proud to be demonstrating the role that Higher Education can play in responding to the challenges and opportunities associated with an ageing demographic.
The University of Strathclyde is already demonstrating its commitment to being an Age-Friendly University by delivering the largest programme of learning opportunities aimed at those over 50 at the Centre for Lifelong Learning, conducting a range of age-related research across all faculties and being part of national and international projects with an ageing focus. The Age-Friendly Academy consolidates this breadth of work in one place to support our status as Age-Friendly University and a ‘place of useful learning open to all’.
Going forward the aim of the AFA is to continue to add to our portfolio of activity related to ageing through new collaborative projects, new course development and maximised community engagement.
