Strathclyde Institute for Genealogical Studies alumna awarded PhD

Eileen Clark, an alumna of Strathclyde Institute for Genealogical Studies (SIGS) has been awarded a PhD after the successful submission of her doctoral thesis.

Eileen achieved an MSc in Genealogical Studies from SIGS in 2016 and continued her education a little closer to home with a PhD from Charles Sturt University, Australia. Her thesis entitled “Snapshots from Mayday Hills: A multidisciplinary study of Beechworth’s psychiatric hospital, 1900–1995” drew on insights and techniques from sociology, genealogy, and history to present a picture of the asylum, its staff, and the local community.

You can read articles, blogs, and view images on the Mayday Hills project website, on which Eileen is a researcher.

Congratulations Eileen on your fantastic achievement!
