Transfers

You have been directed to this page because an Exam Board has made the decision to transfer you to a higher or lower level of course, or to a different course. The information below will help you understand the next steps in relation to your University of Strathclyde registration and protecting your UK immigration status.

Transfer up – (e.g. BEng to MEng)

Where you have been transferred to a course at a higher level. If your current visa will not be long enough to allow you to complete your new course, please visit student visa guidance.

Transfer down – (e.g. MEng to BEng, PhD to MPhil)

If you have been transferred to the lower level of an integrated degree course (e.g MEng to BEng, PhD to MPhil) you will be able to continue study on your current Student Route Visa.

If you have been transferred to lower-level course in any other circumstance, sponsorship of your Student Route visa will be withdrawn. The Visa Compliance Team will email you to confirm the report that will be submitted to UKVI and provide details of the implications for your immigration status.

If you are required to be in the UK to complete your remaining studies, please visit student visa guidance.

Please note:  If you are studying on a Master's programme and are transferred to PG Diploma, you will not be eligible to apply for the Graduate Route visa on completion of your studies.

Transfer same level

Our Compliance Team will check that your change of course is permitted under your current immigration permission. Our Visa Compliance Team will email you to confirm the report that will be submitted to UKVI and provide details of the implications for your immigration status.

Transfer & re-attend

This decision means that you are required to transfer down from your current course and transfer to a different course and re-attend the same year again in the next academic session. Our Visa Compliance Team will email you with details of how this impacts your current visa.
